About Me
Having earned my doctorate in 1992 from the University of Southern Mississippi, I have been an English professor for more than 40 years and am now semiretired, teaching only as an adjunct of online graduate courses for Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, who has been my employer since 2003. I now teach mostly graduate-level courses in English literature, but over the years I have taught hundreds of writing classes. To date I have published 78 scholarly books and over 500 articles/chapters, primarily in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century English literature, but am now focused on publishing my Christian fiction and nonfiction. I also teach a Bible study and sing on the choir at Bethlehem Church in Dallastown, PA.

Brenda’s Christian Nonfiction
What DOG LOVERS Know About GOD
What have dog lovers learned or can learn about God through their relationships with canines? Plenty, especially when the Lord is the trainer. What Dog Lovers Know About God consists of an easy-to-read, entertaining narrative about experiences with dogs that are full of spiritual lessons sure to benefit the individual reader and/or a Bible study group.
What DOG LOVERS Know About GOD-2
For the cover of my first What Dog Lovers Know About God, I used a picture of Lyssie, who was my first cocker spaniel and who lived with me for nearly twenty years. In that photo, she looked as if she were listening to Jesus, and I have absolutely no doubt that she is with Him now. The picture on this sequel’s cover is of Annie on the left and Gracie on the right, posed as if they are in class, eager to learn something.
What DOG LOVERS Know About GOD-3
In this heartfelt third installment of the beloved What Dog Lovers Know About God series, Brenda Ayres continues to weave together the everyday joys and challenges of life with her two rescue cocker spaniels, Annie and Gracie with profound biblical insights.
